Reflections on My MBA Journey in Kampar

Oh wow, how can 1 year and 9 months just passed so quickly without knowing? It took me some time to digest and ponder on how amazing my God is throughout this period. It has been an exciting and fulfilling roller coaster ride. Bear with me as I am going to share this story to my future-self and not forgetting to thank God & the people who have made this journey an adventurous one.

Why did I choose to take a MBA course? It actually began with some silly thoughts and misconceptions:-

1.       I will have more time to study my Chartered Financial Analyst exam

2.       In university, I will increase the chance in meeting the lover of my life whom God has prepared for me (*maybe up to 90% because of this)

3.       Great excuse to leave my mundane work routine

4.       To improve my career prospects

Having all these silly thoughts in mind, I thank God that at least I did one thing right which is to seek for His direction. One of my confirmations to study in UTAR came from my younger brother, Ezra, as he was searching for Uni to further his study during the same period. He chose UTAR and I ask whether he is fine with the idea of studying in the same Uni together and he gladly accepted this idea.

Praise the Lord, both my brother and I managed to be enrolled in UTAR without any hassle. One of the most important thing to me is to find the right church wherever I go. So, when we first arrived in Kampar, I asked God to lead me to the church where He wanted me to be. On a fine Sunday morning, I was led to Life Church and the Lord spoke through Eric Fung, who is the Executive Director of Asian Outreach Malaysia. I was touched by God and in tears after hearing his message. He encouraged me to grow spiritually in this church and to help out whenever I see a need. It is in this spiritual family, where I was loved and fed spiritually by Pastor PingChin and Elder K Lynn. I am grateful to my life group member Lwying Lee, Jireh, Yixian, Yun Xin, Luke Lee, Kadeisha, Julian and many more life church members who have sowed into my life. (*if you can’t find your name here, don’t worry it’s written in my heart, guys).

New friendship. I wanna thank God for His faithfulness, as I obeyed his commandments to do His will, miracles happened. As I asked God for a chance to share his good news, He led me to a cool guy, Zhen Bang, whom I met in LFS cinema and invited him to an Alpha course; Sally See, whom I met in UTAR BYIC club; Low Kok Tong, whom I met in postgraduate research room and many other people. I praise the Lord for these 3 amazing people whom God has placed in my life to experience that the word of God is living and active. I believe our friendships will continue to grow in Christ. I urge you to continue to follow Christ and dwell in the grace of God.

Love story time. Top 1 FAQ: How did I meet my girlfriend? Oh well, since I was 15 years old, I had already planned to get married in the age of 25, but things did not work as planned. Frankly speaking, I am frustrated and asked God why?!?!?! So, for almost every single week during Life group (cell group), my prayer requests would be praying for a future partner and it went on for almost year.

One fine day, before my HK trip, I was unwell for a period of time and later discovered that I need to undergo appendectomy. Miraculously, my insurance policy, which I just bought a month ago, became effective for me to claim for the RM11k++ medical fee. It’s the grace of God as I have only paid RM200 for the first quarterly insurance premium. I thank God that I managed to claim all my hotel and flight expenses too. During the recovering period, I really don’t understand why God allowed it to happen to me.

After I have recovered, I decided not to go HK but to visit Taiwan instead. On the 7th of Jan 2017, my family members and I were on our way to Taiwan departing from Changi Airport, Singapore. After passing the final customs, we decided to go to the washroom. Then, we took the inner path to the boarding gate. Suddenly *Deng Deng Deng*, I saw a pink colour Puma bag in the middle of the pathway. In my mind, I was looking around for possible person who might just dropped the bag and wondered why didn’t the shop attendants around do something about it. Argh... then only I realised we were in Singapore (U know what I meant). So, we walked past the bag. As we walked towards the boarding gate, suddenly*Deng Deng Deng*, an anxious lady, started to ask her family members whether they have seen her pink bag. Guess who she is? She is none other than my future sister-in-law, Jia Min. I overheard their conversations and I walked towards her and asked whether was it a Pink Puma Bag that she is looking for. So, I’ve became her angel and brought her to the place where she dropped her bag. However, when Jia Min was about to take the bag, an off-duty security guard stopped us. She forbid her from taking the unattended bag, as she has reported to the police about it. As a result, she became more anxious and worried. Then, she used my phone to call her sister, guess who? Yup, it’s none other than my lovely future life partner, Xingxing Lim. However, I didn’t roam my phone so the call didn’t get through. Then, she borrowed from a policeman and managed to contact XingXing. By the time Xing Xing came over, I told them that I will bring both our family members to cross the last boarding gate checkpoint and informed the flight attendants about the delay to buy us some time. So, I managed to chat with her family members for awhile and realized that Becky Lim, who was supposedly to be one the same plane but one of her exam has been postponed, needed to buy another air ticket and fly from KLIA. (*She later told me that it might be God’s will for her to meet her future husband on the plane.)

After 15 minutes or so, after Jia Min and Xing Xing talked to the special unit who deals with unattended belongings, they managed to pass the last checkpoint on time. This time round when I saw this beautiful lady, Xingxing Lim, I felt something miraculous happened in me that I can hardly describe with words and I had this peace from God like I had experienced so strongly after the JPA scholarship interview last time. So, I asked how my mum felt about her, she mentioned she looks beautiful and confirmed that she has a boyfriend now (seriously mum?!?). However, my heart had that peace which I have always asked from the Lord and I needed that confirmation from Him especially for locating the future partner whom He has prepared for me.

Back to my story, so we traveled with our family members to Taiwan on the same plane. Once I walked past the Taiwan custom, I was prompted to send a message about the lane to collect the luggage from by using the number Jia Min keyed in earlier on. I got to know her more from then on and prayed for her often. And my love story continues.

Philippians 4:6-7 (Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.)

Work life in Kampar. It is another amazing testimony that I gotta share. Lord, please give me a job which I need not to buy a car (as I am sharing it with my brother) and manage to earn a living. It seemed to be a simple prayer, but my God answered. One fine day, after a combined church prayer service in Kampar, which I enjoyed this kind of prayer meeting very much as people from different backgrounds come together as one, I got to catch up with Doreen Wee. After some chit chat, she recommended me to Presley (fiance) to work for him. I told him that I am willing to explore new opportunity and so made an appointment to discus about the job scope. Cut the story short, I took the job by faith, as I was given any basic salary. In hindsight, I took the job because it’s located in Kampar, I get to work less than 4 days a week and I do not need to purchase a car for it. Little did I know, it was God divine appointment. I was so blessed to join this handsome christian brothers sales team, Eu Gene-the boss, Joseph, Tan Sze Chuan, L'ric Chai Kok Leng and Presley. I am thankful and grateful to you all for your guidance and love, not forgetting “are you stressed?” session. I wanna give God all the glory, it’s Him who directed me to the clients and managed to closed all the sales smoothly. I want to thank all the bosses for giving me this opportunity to experience God’s goodness and faithfulness. Oh ya, I forgot to share, we worked as property sales consultants and we are currently selling one of the most exciting and promising commercial shop lots investment in Kampar. Praise be to God, all of us not only manage to earn a living, we are able to bless the needy, church, ministries and also save up for老婆本。

Study life testimony. As a non-utar graduate, I found it quite hard to adapt to a different learning method from my undergraduate study. Nevertheless, I know the learning process is more important than the result. Having say that, I wanna thank God that my CGPA increased gradually and praise God that He gave me lot’s of good friends to support me like Stella, Daniel Wa, William, Panda, Jake, Nickson, Ian Chong, Joe Liew, Michelle Ong, Siewsiew Belinda, Terence Toh, Vicky Yap, Zhiyin Mooi, Sam Tan, Xu Er, J'Ghanesh, Asuka Aaron and many more. I pray that the Lord will bless you and your future endeavors.

I know there are many people that I need to thank, but I am sorry that I didn’t manage to list them all out here. If I’ve missed out your name, scold me straight when U meet. Before I end this post, I also gotta thank my father, mother and brother for being so caring and good to me. Not forgetting, my godly beautiful wife-to-be, Xingxing Lim, and her lovely family members, thank you for accepting me for who I am and treating me as one. These are some of the many miracles that I have witnessed over 21 months in Kampar. God has been good to me. I will continue to seek the Lord and can’t wait to see what He has installed for my life, or should I say our lives. Do continue to pray for me and I will do likewise. 

Last but not least, the main reason for me to write this post is to share this God who loves us so much that He sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. Jesus came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Here’s a salvation prayer that you can pray:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Now, help me to live for you the rest of this life.

The Resistance-Board Game

The Day God called me. .

     On the 1st Sept 2013, this is the day that I do not want to forget. I am in my last semester of study in UWA. I was wandering like Jonah (bible character), planning to escape from the 6 years bond with the Government. I have lot's of plan that I would like to do. I could recall, when I was in my primary school years, I've planned which secondary school to go to. In my high school years, while most of my cohorts were waiting for the SPM result last time, there I was studying in MMU already even before the actual result was out. To plan ahead, it's just part of me.
  
     However, today, while I was listening to Jason Wong's sharing, the Senior Director of Rehabilitation, Protection & Residential Services Division of Singapore, God spoke so clearly to my spirit. He is a mighty man of God, the founder of the Yellow Ribbon project and many more. Back to my story, while he preached, I can't help myself but to tremble and fill my face with tears and mucus. Every verse that he spoke, it just like a confirmation, the Holy Spirit actually spoke to me ahead of Him. Although I came from a charasmatic background, I don't encounter the touch of Holy Spirit that strong personally in my life. To be frank, he is a humurous preacher, everyone else was laughing while he preached. Here am I, sitting at the front three rows, trembling and bursting into tears. He shared about how important a father is to the family and a lot of people ended up in prison are from broken families. One of the similarities that prisoners shared is that they are mostly fatherless or have a bad earthly father.
   
     While he was preaching, I felt the same burden which is to see restoration in family bonding. God has a great plan for Malaysians. God wants to restore family relationship especially. There are too many broken families out there in our society. God wants to turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers. Every social problems that he mentioned, I could vision the cry of those helpless children. I just wept throughout his sharing. At the end of service, I was prompted to ask for the double portion of anoiting, like Elisha did, from him. Honestly speaking, I would not want it. But God has called me, I just told him as it is. He did it willingly and asked me to read about the story of Moses and Jeremiah. He gave me his card and took a photo with me. He mentioned that even his visit spoke to just one single person, he thinks that is all worth it. I reassured him that I am really blessed to hear from him and God has used him to call "Jonah" back.
    
     For those who are seeking for God's plan and guidance, let me tell you this, He honours your prayer. He will definitely lead every step of yours. While I am planning for my future, I always have this in mind, my plan is always 'nonsense' compares to His. Last time, I planned to study in MMU, but God stepped in and opened door for me to study overseas. In hindsight, I know for sure that it is all of His Grace that I could boast about. After experiencing His goodness, I could not believe I planned to run away from my six year bonds. However, he stepped in and brought me back to His plan and purpose. Now, I know He plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future. "The same goes to you, who are His beloved children."
   
     So 'Great plan in mind'??? 'Running away from God'??? 'Hidding somewhere'??? 'Take the easy way out '??? Aha, God will send his messenger and bring you back to His plan. I know he will.

        The Lord make His face shine upon you,
        And be gracious to you;
        The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
        And give you peace.”’ Numbers 6:24-26

The day has finally arrived.

It's a new chapter of my life. I woke up early and went to church, instead of taking a public transport, God answered my prayer, I drove my friends to church. Yup, that's my first car, HONDA ODYSSEY. It's a miracle that I could get this car from the consulate general of Malaysia. It looks new, stable and reliable. I love it, Thank you ma, thanks, dad. That's the coolest present.^^


What comes next? Lunch, of course. And not forgetting a cup of CHOCOLATE MINT ICE BLENDED, at San Churro.

After that, I visited Kings' Park and took a nap. Wow, it's one of the most enjoyable things to do in Perth. Something interesting that happened to me, I discovered my socks were covered by tonnes of ants when I got up from my nap. Argh!!!

On 318, it's a day to remember, as I got my first job in Australia. Although it's not really a cool job, I enjoyed myself. I came back around 7pm, took a bath, then I have dinner with my housemates.

At night, I skyped with my mum and brother. They shared about the process of the making of my 21st birthday video, I really appreciate all my family members (extended family members), it's really to cool to have them as part of my life. Thank God for such a wonderful and God-fearing family.

As for the presents I received - belt, wallet, video, bottle of stars, bookmark, 'BORN RICH' t-shirt, the "polluted" journal/planning book, etc. Tell u what, I love them all. And allow me to tell u this, friends, to know u as my friend(s), it's already the best gift I received from my heavenly father. I sincerely would like to share this love of Christ with u. Jesus loves U! Me too.

Emotional Excellence

Praise God, I have finished reading the book "Emotional Excellence" written by DR Leornad Yong.

Dr. Leonard Yong is an international consultant who has trained and consulted in many countries. He is an Educational Psychologist. Prior to his retirement as Professor, University of Malay's Department of Educational Psychology @ Counselling, he taught for mare than 20 yeas in the University of Malay. He was also the pioneering Director of the University Malaya. He was also the pioneering Director of the University Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCED). By applying the LEONARD Model in leading and managing the UMCCED, UMCCED became a self-financing educational enterprise.

I attended his talk with Mr.Wong (Economics Lecturer) and a few of my friends. What that really attracted my attention is the "TENT". Basically, "TENT" is a special kind of therapy that protects the spirit and mind from the elements of the outside world. TENT also can be considered as a practice.

T- Thanksgiving Attitude
E- Enjoy the now as your conscience permits you
N- No coincidence
T- Thankfulness to Creator God

Benefits of practicing TENT:
~ Royal relationship with Creator God
~ Reconciliation with enemies
~ Recompense others more readily

From my perspective, by practicing the TENT, one is able to turn negative thinking to positive.
Change the whole situation from bad to good.^^

Duration of each TENT: Approximately 10 mins

Step 1
Thanksgiving attitude
Begin by recalling a pleasant memory and dwell on it. This enables you to switch from a negative mood to a positive mood. Make this memory brighter in your imagination. Make it bigger on the screen of your imagination. Make any sounds or music or noise associated with the memory to be louder and clearer.

Step 2
Enjoy the now as your conscience permits you.
Continue by enjoying the present in a genuine, wholesome way. Enjoyment of the present is a vital mental habit that can enrich the spirit; for the mind is the doorway to the spirit, and a healthy spirit. Say to yourself, "It's now 9am. (or whatever time). I've this present moment as a gift of Creator God. I am thankful for this moment. I don't need to be anxious of fearful of tomorrow or the future."

Step 3
No coincidence
Remind yourself that life has no coincidence. Remind yourself in the next few minutes of quiet meditation that there are no coincidences or accidents in life. If God has permitted an event - even a negative one that was partly or largely caused by you - you can learn to accept it and move on. Let go of the past and any oppressive memory of past failures or defeats.

Step 4
Thankfulness to Creator God
In the same few minutes, declare joyfully to God your gratefulness for all the blessings he has showered upon you. Be thankful for all the things that you have, enjoy them and do not covet those that you don't. Give thanks to God for our health. Thank Him for your family. Continue to thank God for all aspects of your life.

BY performing it on a regular basis everyday, we can help stimulate the release of "ENDORPHINS" in larger quantities at a higher frequency. Endorphins are so so important...(*do your own research about it) Scientifically proven!^^

Have you watched the movie "2012"?

Anyway, personally, the movie Reassure me that you and I are living in the end time. Reminds me that it's urgent to share whatever that's in my heart, although it's almost time for me to do my revision.^^

If you are a yet to be Christian, Jesus loves you. No matter you like or love him or not, He has died for you on the cross. It's a fact. Allow me to show you 3 verses that have written 2000 years ago,

John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." -there's love.

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - there's hope.

Acts 2:19-20 "And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. -there's judgement.

There's some signs that have stated in the bible came about while some of them are happening now and others are going to transpire in the future soon.

The second coming of Christ,so called the end time, is near. What I can confirm is, no one in this world knows the exact day and hour.

Matthew 24:36 ""...concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

Continue with the previous verse about the judgement, Act 2:21 "And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

I am not here to introduce you a religion, but to share with you about a Saviour, who is able to give you "JOY" and "PEACE",which the world couldn't give. If you would like to know more about it, please drop me a message, I will be very happy to hear from you.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ.

Resuscitate-I hope this verse will resuscitate us who have been nearly forgotten about the rank we are. I will elaborate more hopefully in my next post.

Renew- Our spirit is being renewed day by day. Today, what I am going to share is about renew our perspective. What perspective you may wonder? Erm, is about church. Sometimes, we as a Christian will feel proud of our church, especially when one church has a great congregation or successfully organized a big program, praise God for that. But,often, comparison between churches in either verbal or in one's heart occurs eventually

"Which church are you from?"

It rings a bell,right?

The concept we must have is there's only one church in this earth, that's the "Church of God". We are one. As usual, I will elaborate more in my next post.

Lastly, "Revival". I believe you know better than I do. We are all feeling excited for it to happen in our school, workplace, neighborhood, state, country and this generation. This is our prayer. Bear in mind that, revival starts from prayer. Note down in your diary, 23 May 2010 is the "Global Day of Prayer". I recommend this website, http://www.globaldayofprayer.com/

Kindly watch the video. Prayer warrior, let's do what we have called to be. Personal revival happens when one decided to pray everyday without fail.

Stress-free life

I would like to share this insight with an IQ question.

If "noon" is equals to "noon",

then "stressed" is equals to "__?__"

Stress tends to visit us when we're tired, when we're sick, when we're driving through a crowded metropolis, when we're late for an important meeting, or if we've taken on too many responsibilities. When circumstances are out of our control, we feel stress. When our basic needs are not being met and our safety is threatened, we tend to get anxious.

1.Put your trust in God! -by proclaiming His Word and believe His word will come to pass

Jesus is able to turn your "stressed" into "desserts". Don't worry, be JOYFUL always. There's nothing too BIG for God.

David in the house...yo!

Hi guys. I can't believe it,David, David Tan, David Tan Xi An (that's my name for those who don't know me), starts to blog,man. Wow, for those who still haven't own a blog, listen up, blogging is really a exhausting task to do, it took me a donkey's years to write up to here. I mean there, the "here" with a full stop behind it, yar,that's right!^^

Let me share with you guys something, currently I'm studying in KBU International College and I'm living in Bandar Utama 6 (section 6) super near to 1utama shopping complex.haha I really have to praise God to lead me through this 18 years. It's all the grace of God. Glory to god.
